At first I became sad when I reflected on the notion that horses don’t think like us. I believe they feel their way through the world without all the stories that we, as humans, tell ourselves and each other. They live in the moment, and this idea made me much happier for them as I believe thought can often lead to a sense of suffering. They are also in a constant state of flow which seems pretty great to me. They have natural intuition that protects and serves them in the present and guides them throughout their lives. And yet they are gentle and affectionate and even playful because it is their nature. Although they do not have a word for love, I feel it whenever I’m in their presence.
